Interactive Project Manager
Gorilla is a 15 year old web design/development agency specializing in ecommerce. We have a unique group in a client driven culture looking to expand our reach to exceed the expectations of additional clients. www.gorillachicago.com. The Project Manager manages and drives Web design/development projects, works with creative and technical project teams, interacts with the Principal and is responsible for producing projects on time and on budget.
- Responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of detailed project plans.
- Identifies and scopes client requirements and deliverables
- Create goals and milestones.
- Identifies, documents, and manages scope or deliverable change requests required whether initiated internally or by the client
- Creates and maintains all project activity
- Coordinates daily tasks and assigns project resources
- Tracks all billable hours to ensure the team is on budget.
- Manages and helps ensure client satisfaction in partnership with the internal team
- Properly notifies the internal team of any risks, weaknesses or opportunities that could impact the success of the project, escalating to upper management as appropriate
- Plans for and controls quality by reviewing items before delivery to client; monitoring and enhancing internal and external deliverables/documents; working with internal teams on needed revisions/enhancements.
- Coordinates and participates in periodic project reviews
- Maintains an understanding of the client's operating environment and internal processes and procedures that may affect the project's success; serves as point of contact for clients as needed
- Ensures the use of best practices and apply lessons learned from previous projects; share lessons learned with other project management team members
- Displays confidence and enthusiasm when communicating to the client and the internal project team – demonstrate a "can-do" attitude
- Maintains an understanding of industry trends
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 or more years of relevant experience managing projects (preferably within an interactive agency)
- Knowledge of project management principles, methods and techniques
- Understanding of technical and creative design and development principles
- Proficient in MS Project, and the entire MS Office Suite
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong business writing skills

Mid-Level Designer, Interactive + Ecommerce
Gorilla is seeking a mid-level designer with a sophisticated eye to fill out our interactive & Ecommerce creative talent. The winning designer will be responsible for creating original site design concepts on your own and in a team setting for Gorilla's growing list of clients in the Ecommerce space and beyond.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years +/- experience working in a design capacity at an agency or boutique design firm. Client experience and portfolio should lean towards fashion-oriented or image-conscious consumer facing brands.
ROLE
- Create original site design concepts that help our clients meet their business objectives, regardless of whether it's a consumer-facing Ecommerce site or a sophisticated corporate Web app.
- Work with Gorilla's technical architects, creative director, fellow designers, and marketing specialists to strategize winning site design solutions based on real-world needs.
- Help manage the design process, drive decisions, and coordinate efforts with fellow Gorillas.
- Mentor junior practitioners.
REQUIREMENTS
- Solid background in designing for Web with an emphasis on B2B or B2C Ecommerce and image conscious brands and corporations.
- An extensive online portfolio that includes samples of user interface/Web site design and your rationale behind the proposed solutions.
- Strong project and people management skills. Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.
- Firm grasp on the demands of designing for dynamic and database driven content. This is a design role, but the ideal candidate must understand the demands of the medium.
- A keen interest in emerging technologies and how they might impact future design decisions and strategic directions.
- An appreciation for good design and exquisite typography in almost any context.
- Back of the hand knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and standard business applications such as MS Office Suite, Powerpoint, etc.
PREFERRED
- Experience with Information Architecture, Wireframe diagrams, use cases, and workflow diagrams.
- Flash, jQuery, and other animation / interactivity tools.
- SEO / SEM best practices.

Java Web Developer
Gorilla is looking for a Java web developer. As a web developer you will be responsible for developing web-based applications using Java/J2EE. You should have a strong understanding of J2SE and a familiarity with J2EE API's, be able to create basic JSP pages and implement business logic and database access.
You should have experience with Spring, iBatis, JUnit and JMock frameworks. You should also be familiar with MVC concepts, and lacking experience with Spring MVC, you will have experience with some other MVC framework. Additionally, you will have experience implementing website front-ends, utilizing front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (and JavaScript libraries, such as JQuery/Prototype/etc.), DHTML, etc.
Prior experience with automated testing systems, using software patterns, working with J2EE application servers (Weblogic) and experience with Oracle is desired. Not least, you should have excellent speaking and writing skills.

The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years experience designing layouts for web sites, ecommerce, and/or Web based applications. Proficient with Photoshop and Illustrator as primary tools is a must. Experience with Flash is a definite bonus, but not a requirement. This is a design position. We're not expecting you to code.
